Brett Charles Seiler

This young artist is already enjoying enormous international success and uses simple materials (canvas, wooden frames, wall and roof paint) and subdued colors to express his thoughts on gender and sexuality in a compelling way. Born in Zimbabwe, Brett Charles Seiler plays with assumed ideals of masculinity. His works depict intimate, lonely or vulnerable situations, and he often uses words - for example, strikingly in his strictly typographical piece "This is a gay painting".
